Monte Rosso Toreador Zinfandel

Description

Our 2008 Monte Rosso Vineyard Toreador Zinfandel captures the terroir of the Monte Rosso Vineyard, with expressive aromas of black raspberry, plum jam and dark black cherry. On the palate, hints of peppery clove spice and dark chocolate meld with nuances of vanilla and toasted coconut to form a lingering finish supported by rich tannins.

Winemaking Notes

The grapes were hand harvested and hand sorted to ensure only the highest quality fruit went into the final blend. The grapes were de-stemmed and gently crushed, yielding 40% whole berries. The grapes were cold soaked for two to three days at temperatures not exceeding 60°F to add color and complexity, followed by fermentation at a maximum temperature of 88°F for 10 to 14 days. The wine was aged for nine months in oak barrels, imparting nuances of vanilla and toasted coconut.
