In single-vineyard winemaking, the winemaker purposefully limits him or herself to grapes grown and harvested from a specific location. As a result, only the very best vineyards are chosen for these releases; vineyards that due to their climate and soil types produce unique flavors and character in selected varietals. In Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, the Chiotti and Stefani vineyards are such sites. The Zinfandels made exclusively from these grapes are big and spicy, offering great depth, character and layer upon layer of intense varietal flavor. Both vineyards are in a coastal warm climate zone with only moderate to light fog intrusion at night. This makes for great Zinfandel!
